Sailboats and Sunsets

The first day excursion we did with Julia was take her to a nearby town on the Côte d'Azur named Villefranche-sur-mer.

We were invited on a yacht by a friend Meg made. The owners weren't using the yacht so it was free for us to have a quite playful day!
(This post is all pictures from my iphone4 so sorry if some of them are a little blurry, I had the waterproof case on. I didn't want to take my camera on the boat and drop it in the Mediterranean).

Little dingy ride to the real yacht.

Before we got into the champagne...

And after we got into the champagne...

After a swim off the back of the boat Julia and I escaped to the upper deck so we could take a series of pictures inspired by Titanic...

Unfortunately, we did eventually have to leave. We weren't trying to spend the night on a yacht anchored in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

Once we were back on shore it was quite a struggle for us to get back home. We hadn't realized how late it was and all the trains back to Cannes had already left. It was a week night so the last train was around 9ish, if it were an evening on the weekend the last train would have been around 12. Of course we had no idea... We ended up having to take the last train that was available which stopped in Nice Ville.  Then we found a bus going to the Nice airport and from the airport we took the Night bus that, Thank God, ended in Cannes.  It was a huge pain getting back but the day was totally worth it.  And now we know that if we are going to go on day trips that we have to be back at the train station before 9 on a weekday...
