The Comune of Vernazza

So back to Cinque Terre...

Our second day of hiking in the National Park was much easier.  We started the day by taking the train to the third town on the list, Corniglia.

We poked around town a bit before hiking.

The towns of Cinque Terre are so picturesque it's unbelievable...

We started to take a quick detour down to the water. 

The stairs were quite discouraging.

But it was definitely worth the effort.  

Anyone up for a dip?

The color of the water makes me so happy.  I'll never be able to look at the ocean the same way.

If I could live in this water I would.

I think I went a little overboard with all the pictures of the water but I just couldn't resist. 

We started the climb back up to town so we could get to hiking already. 

I thought the cat was dead, but he wasn't thank god. 

We got a snack before the hike, because we can't go too long without some Italian pizza and focaccia.

And we were off. Thankfully, the easier hike path from Corniglia to the next town of Vernazza was open so we did not have to climb a mountain like the day before.

Meg is such an adventurer. 

This hike was much easier than the one from Riomaggiore to Manarola. But still we would recommend to wear the proper hiking attire. We saw people in sandals and flats and were shocked. After 5 minutes in those kinds of shoes I would have given up and turned around.

The landscapes here are so gorgeous.  It reminds of something from the Land Before Time or Jurassic Park.  I have never seen anything else like it. 

If you look closely you can see at least two of the towns in the distance. 

And down to Vernazza we go! 

And finally made it down into town.

After taking in all of the scenery we possibly could we went back to the train. We were utterly exhausted and our legs couldn't bare to walk anymore.
